Ninety-five children were rescued by the Uttar Pradesh Child Commission on Friday, allegedly being illegally transported from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh, shedding light on the pervasive issue of child trafficking. The intervention came following a tip-off received by the Ayodhya Child Welfare Committee (CWC), prompting immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of the minors.

Sarvesh Awasthi, Chairperson of the Ayodhya CWC, disclosed that the rescued children, aged between 4 and 12, were found without consent letters from parents, raising concerns about their welfare and the circumstances of their transportation. With most children unaware of their destination, efforts are underway to contact their parents for safe handover. This incident follows recent efforts by the Uttar Pradesh State Child Commission to thwart similar trafficking attempts, acting upon directives from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), as emphasized by NCPCR Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo's statement condemning the exploitation of children for religious purposes.
